Colonel Eric Lewis, was born in
southern Missouri in 1943, he was born in a log cabin, he was raised in West Plains, Mo. He began his music career at the
age of 15 when he purchased a small guitar and learned from his music friends how to put the chords together. He began his
public music life playing at music parties at homes of music friends, he has played for 50 years in country, bluegrass, old
time, mountain, gospel and has developed in comedy. He formed his first band in 1981, Southern Grass, they performed
at festivals, concerts, fairs, schools and other music events, later the name was changed to Southern Missouri Bluegrass.
He has developed his music career into a premier business. The title of Colonel came from the KY Colonel commission givn
to Eric by the then governor of KY, Ernie Fletcher.
